Fireworks at Winterfest, Water and Sewer, along with the city’s budget for 2022, were the main topics of the evening. This was the first meeting held after the city’s annual budget workshop. As a result, most of the meeting was spent reviewing the budget. Also discussed at length was state law regarding communication of the budget workshop date and time so that council and community members could be present.
Election results have just been updated for the Deer Park City Mayoral and City Council races. The Secretary of State certifies final results by December 2nd, 2021. All results posted before certification are unofficial.
After lots of campaigning and two candidate forums, the city council and mayoral election is finally behind voters.
We are fortunate to live in a community where people work together, support each other, and create fantastic events. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Deer Park’s daylight trick-or-treating event, Pumpkin Lane. Leslie Stansbury and Sandra Coleman started the annual event to help keep children safe while out trick-or-treating. The event changed hands and was run by the Deer Park PTO for a few years, and then Danielle and Isaiah Prosser took on the task of keeping Pumpkin Lane alive for the past four years
Our family lost our matriarch when Jeanne Hansen, also known as Grandma by so many, passed peacefully in her home on Bare Mountain Ranch Thursday, October 21, reuniting with her sweetheart Chris Hansen.

Winterfest and Settlers Day need volunteers to continue their annual events. Both groups are revving up for the upcoming 2022 year; however, the lack of new volunteers and the retiring of past leaders leaves these events struggling and at-risk right now.
