Horrific behavior from a School Board Member

Typewriter with paper reading "Letters to the Editor"

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing unprofessional and harmful behavior of Deer Park School Board Director Ashby. His public accusations against me, falsely labeling me as unethical, amount to defamation and slander, unfairly damaging my reputation. It is unacceptable for a sitting board member to engage in such reckless and baseless personal attacks.

However, this issue extends far beyond me. Ashby has exhibited a disturbing pattern of misconduct, including bullying fellow board members, creating a hostile environment, and attempting to silence differing opinions. His blatant disregard for established protocols and refusal to follow or sign necessary procedures undermine the board’s ability to function effectively.

Even more concerning, Ashby has cost the district unnecessary time, money, and resources by initiating investigations while refusing to cooperate himself. His unwillingness to provide his side of the story prolongs these matters, diverting attention and resources away from the students and schools we are meant to serve. This type of obstruction is irresponsible and deeply damaging to the integrity of the board.

Leadership demands professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to the well-being of students—qualities that Ashby has repeatedly failed to demonstrate. His actions erode public trust and damage the credibility of this board. Those who doubt the severity of this issue need only review the publicly available board meeting recordings on the district’s website or this direct link to the videos https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1iP5QZ0yUv0vNMs2ef2Nz2dBr9TnIpu_M,             where his behavior speaks for itself.

It is critical that the community is made aware of the harm being done under his leadership. I urge those who value the integrity of this board to recognize the pattern of misconduct and work toward restoring professionalism and trust.
