North Spokane Open Mic In-Person

Young poets will take center stage at the North Spokane Open Mic. They will share their original work in a supportive and welcoming environment. This event offers high school students a chance to build confidence before entering the world of competitive poetry slams.

The North Spokane Open Mic is hosted by the Spokane County Library District (SCLD). Aspiring young poets from our area will have a chance to take the stage and present their one-of-a-kind talent and creativity at the North Spokane Library located at 44 E Hawthorne Rd in Spokane. The Open Mic night, designed for high school students aged 14–18, offers a supportive and encouraging environment for young performers to share their original poetry.

The event, scheduled for February 20th, 2025, will occur from 6pm to 7pm in the library’s meeting room. Students interested in performing must check in at the beginning of the event to secure their spot.

The open mic allows students to practice performing in front of an audience without the pressure of competition. For those considering entering future poetry slams, this event provides valuable experience presenting their work and engaging with audiences. Spokane County Library will hold poetry slam competitions in March and April. Organizers hope this open mic event will foster a love for poetry and performance while creating a community of young artists who support one another.

Audience members of all ages are invited to attend and encourage the young poets as they take the microphone. In addition to experiencing live poetry, attendees will be able to gather information on upcoming competitive poetry slams. The free event aims to celebrate creative expression while inspiring the next generation of poets.
