Kiwanis Calls For Volunteers To Shape WinterFest 2025

Kiwanis is inviting community members to volunteer for WinterFest 2025, an annual celebration in Deer Park. With numerous events planned, residents are encouraged to join planning meetings to ensure a wide range of activities occur.

Deer Park Kiwanis is organizing the annual WinterFest 2025, set for January at Deer Park High School. The event promises a variety of activities, but Kiwanis is calling on community members to step up as event hosts and volunteers to ensure a successful festival. The first planning meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, at 6 p.m. at Deer Park Pizza Factory. More volunteers mean more activities for this much-anticipated community event.

WinterFest 2025 already has several events lined up, such as the Vendor and Craft Fair (hosted by Marty from Kiwanis), the 5K Frostbite Fun Run (hosted by the Deer Park Soccer Boosters), the Kiwanis Book Giveaway, and the crowd-favorite OutHouse Races (hosted by Karen Martino and Deer Park Royalty). Other scheduled events include an Art Show (Tri County Association of Arts), chess tournaments, hot chocolate stands run by the Civil Air Patrol, children’s crafts by Open Door Church, and even bingo hosted by Jennifer Moss.

However, there’s still room for more events, with past favorites like snow activities, bonfires, outdoor obstacle courses, snow painting, and karaoke needing hosts to make a return. Kiwanis is also welcoming new ideas from the community to expand the event. Additional WinterFest planning meetings will be held on November 13th, December 11th, and January 8th, all at 6 pm at the Deer Park Pizza Factory.

Community members can nominate candidates for the Honored Citizen or Organization award, and submissions for the WinterFest Logo Contest are also being accepted, with the winners announced at the November meeting.

Kiwanis emphasizes that WinterFest is a community-driven event, and participation from Deer Park residents will make it more exciting and memorable. Volunteers interested in hosting or helping with activities can attend the planning meetings or contact Kiwanis to ensure their involvement is included on the official WinterFest schedule.

Susan was born April 18th, 1953, in Spokane, WA, to William and Reubie Robideaux. She went to join the Lord peacefully, in her sleep on August 5th, 2024, at her cherished home on Reflection Lake in Elk, WA. Susan grew up and rivaled her feisty, fun-loving, 5 brothers in Spokane, WA, where they performed musical skits for family friends. She attended Marycliff and Mead High Schools. She met her future husband, Brian (Bud) Emry, at a party and was instantly charmed when he tuned his harmonica in orange soda. Bud, in turn, was captivated by Susan’s party trick – reciting Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards.
