Social Media Preventing News Distribution

Despite recent changes to Facebook and X/Twitter that have prevented many news agencies from distributing news, the Deer Park Gazette remains dedicated to its mission. We’re working harder than ever, offering more options to ensure you always have access to your local news.

Facebook and X.com, formerly known as Twitter, have made changes that impact many organizations, not just the Deer Park Gazette. You might have noticed more spam on Facebook recently. In April, Facebook removed features used by a wide variety of organizations in an effort to reduce spam. However, the change had the opposite result because it also removed tools that Facebook Group Moderators use to help manage the posts. It also prevents legitimate content from being shared by trusted organizations associated with those Facebook groups. The site X.com, formerly known as Twitter, has changed policies that restrict speech and now charges organizations for using the site to publish content.

Because of all of that, Deer Park Gazette articles are less likely to be seen on Facebook, and are not posted to X.com at this time.
