The Deer Park Lady Stags built an early lead, then fended off a Lakeside comeback bid Wednesday at West Valley High School to claim their second consecutive district title 49-36.

Brooklyn Coe was hot early, scoring seven in the first quarter as Deer Park led by as many as eleven and 15-7 after the first quarter.

The advantage grew to 15 at intermission, 34-19 behind a 10-4 half closing run. Coe, with nine, and Kaitlyn Scott, with seven, led in scoring.

A quick score by Scott to open the second half put Deer Park up by their largest margin, 36-19. The Eagles would parlay their inside game into an 11-2 run to pull within eight and trailed 41-31 after three quarters.

The final period saw the Deer Park advantage hover between eight and ten points before the final 49-36 margin. Coe finished with 16 points, and Scott contributed 13.

The Lady Stags now await their regional destination, which will be announced on Sunday. They will bring an unblemished 23-0 record with them.
