Riverside Rams Basketball at Deer Park

Deer Park’s Ashlan Bryant jersey, number 22, scores a layup as her sister, and fellow player, Emma Bryant, number 32 watches.

Friday night’s basketball showdown between Deer Park and Riverside featured both boys’ and girls’ games. Riverside secured a victory in the boys’ match, while Deer Park emerged victorious in the girls’ game.

The Deer Park vs Riverside rivalry heated up as both boys and girls basketball teams clashed on the courts on January 12th in Deer Park. The boys kicked the night off and the Stags and Rams gave their all. While the boys’ game saw a seesaw battle, the girls of Deer Park continued their dominant season with a decisive victory over Riverside.

In the boys’ matchup, the Stags took an early lead in the second quarter, only to be overtaken by the Rams, who finished the first half with a commanding 38-19 lead. Despite several comeback attempts, the Stags couldn’t close the gap, and Riverside emerged victorious with a final score of 72-55. Jake Graham of Riverside stood out as the leading scorer with an impressive 25 points.

The Deer Park girls, ranked #2, showcased their dominance with an 84-11 triumph over Riverside. The Lady Stags were aggressive on defense, blanking the Lady Rams in two quarters. The swarming defense led to many easy buckets for Deer Park. The Lady Stags remain the undefeated girls team in the state. Berlyn Zimmerer led all scorers with 14 points and Emma Bryant contributed 13.

The game was marked by intense moments from Riverside’s #5 Kaylee Winterroth’s block to Deer Park’s Ashlan Bryant’s layup. The battles for rebounds and loose balls exemplified the determination of both teams.
