Letter To Editor – Meegan Ware – Support for Bond and Levy

Typewriter with paper reading "Letters to the Editor"

Dear Editor

I am writing to express my strong support for the upcoming bond and levy measures for the Deer Park School District. These initiatives are crucial for the continued growth and improvement of our schools.

I have been a parent in this school district since 2010 when my oldest began kindergarten. I remember separate rooms available for music education, and for art. Now, those rooms are used for actual classrooms, and are getting fuller and fuller every year.

Investing in education through the proposed bond will ensure that our schools have the necessary resources to provide a high-quality learning environment for our students. This not only benefits current generations, but also lays the foundation for a prosperous future.

Bonds are for buildings and levies are for learning. The passing of the bond proposal would mean a new elementary school, to bring our preschool, kindergarten and first grade students together in one building. It will bring our 3-5 graders together right next door. And it will open up the current Arcadia building to the Home Link students, giving them room to house their many classes. It will also provide for a much needed new transportation center, putting our school busses and drivers right near the schools, in a building that is not over 100 years old. It will mean updated technology, modernized facilities and improved safety measures.

The levy will allow us to continue and add many programs and services that would not be available otherwise. Levies directly contribute to funding programs, resources, and extracurricular activities that enrich the learning experience for students. From classroom supplies to arts and sports programs, these levies play a vital role in shaping a well-rounded education. It will allow us to have better and more diverse enrichment classes, sports programs, music programs, security officers and health staff. These enhancements are not just about meeting today’s standards but about equipping our students for the challenges of tomorrow. By supporting the levy, we are prioritizing the holistic development of our students, fostering a learning environment that goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. These funds are instrumental in ensuring that our schools can provide diverse opportunities that prepare students for success in a dynamic world.

I urge my fellow community members to consider the long-term benefits of supporting these measures. By voting in favor of the bond and levy, we are actively contributing to the betterment of our community and securing a brighter future for all.

Sincerely,
Meegan Ware
