Principal Selected For Deer Park Home Link

Gretchen Hausman, the new Home Link Principal, with her family.
Provided by Deer Park School District.

Deer Park Home Link is undergoing a transition as they bid farewell to their principal, Molly Murphy, who has been a part of the program for the past 20 years. Gretchen Hausman has been selected as the new Home Link Principal.

Molly’s leadership, commitment, and sunny disposition will be dearly missed when she retires at the end of the 2022-23 school year. However, her colleagues and students know she will enjoy the next chapter in life with her 19 grandchildren. With Molly’s retirement, the school has faced the challenge of finding her successor to continue her legacy.

After an in-depth hiring process, the school district has announced Gretchen Hausman as the new principal of Home Link. Gretchen has a wealth of education and leadership experience, having served as a principal at First Presbyterian Christian School in Spokane for the past four years. She also taught for 22 years in Southern California and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education/Sports Physiology from Biola University, a Master’s in Education and Curriculum from Chapman University, and is a Washington State University(WSU) certified principal. Gretchen is passionate about STEM education and believes that every child has the potential to become a scientist.

She strongly believes in the importance of parents’ involvement in their child’s education and plans to continue the strong parent partnership that has been built in the Deer Park community. Her references describe her as someone who loves children and values and inspires others, making her an excellent fit for Home Link. Gretchen is excited to join the Deer Park Home Link program and work with the staff, families, and students to continue the program’s growth and success.

Gretchen has been married to her husband, Tim, for almost 25 years, and they have three daughters aged 18, 15, and 11. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, kayaking, boating, and even has a small hobby farm. Gretchen’s strong faith guides her daily life and provides her with the guidance she needs to make decisions and lead others.
