WinterFest Volunteer Meeting Coming Up

Don’t freeze up when it comes to getting involved in the planning of WinterFest! Now is the time to jump in and be part of this long-running and much-loved Deer Park event.

WinterFest organizers are in the beginning planning stages of this event, traditionally held in January. The first meeting will determine the exact date of WinterFest, it’s location, and begin planning activities. Volunteers are vital to this event and will be needed to help in many areas, including the WinterFest logo contest, finding sponsors, organizing activities, coordinating the outhouse race, and planning the children’s crafts. In past years activities like book giveaways, mayor’s rock, Frostbite 5K, outhouse races, snowshoe relay, hot chocolate stand, lego contest, and chess match, to name a few, have been featured. However, new activity ideas are welcome.

Though the Deer Park Kiwanis oversees WinterFest, the committee needs people to run individual events and activities and bring new ideas to the table. Volunteers who want to be part of this event do not have to be part of Kiwanis. There is no limit to how you can help, but the first step is to show up, so mark your calendars. The Kiwanis Club invites anyone who wants to help to the Pizza Factory in Deer Park on Wednesday, October 19th, at 6pm. The Pizza Factory is located at 619 S Fir Avenue.
