The Deer Park Market One Down Three To Go

The Deer Park Market, previously called First Saturday Market, came back in June with new management and exciting new features. There are going to be three more markets for you to enjoy this outdoor event before the season ends.

The Deer Park Market Association has taken over the management of the market from the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce this year. Each market will be from 9am – 3pm and located at Perrins Field at 14 Arnim Avenue in Deer Park. The Deer Park Market will showcase small businesses and home-based businesses, as well as local musical talents. Each market will have a different theme and special attractions as well as feature live music and a food vendor.

The market held on June 4th had more than twenty-five vendors, artisans, and growers. People could find everything from morning yoga to the Kiwanis Club fitting youth with helmets and selling circus tickets. Also, the live music from young musician Christopher Anderson throughout the day. The Market Sponsor for June was The Pickett Fence, who gave out a coupon to their coffee shop to the first one hundred visitors to stop by The Deer Park Market table.

The next market will be on July 2nd, with the theme, “Independence Day Party & Car Show.” Deer Park Car Cruisers will join the market with excellent restorations and preserved classic cars. There will be over thirty booths, live music, and beautiful cars. Judges Choice and Crowd Favorite will receive gift cards from local restaurants at 2:30pm.

You can also join the Deer Park Riderz Wheel Ride for an after-market ride from 3pm – 3:30pm. Bring your wheels (scooter, skateboard, Segway, skates, etc.) and ride up towards Bobmart, then end up at Swinyard Park at the skate park. Any minors must be accompanied by their adult guardians.

Everyone can enjoy starting their day with Yoga in the Park for all of the markets by joining Allison from With My Soul Wellness at 8am. This is free; however, donations are appreciated. Bring your mat and a water bottle. In addition, Deer Park Boy Scouts Troop 2202 will be the food vendor for the markets all season. “Scout Dogs” will have hot dogs, bratwurst meal deals, side options, candy, pop, water, and more. They will also have strawberry, orange, blue raspberry, and peach Italian sodas. All monies raised will help send troops to camp and provide funds for needed outdoor equipment for campouts and scouts.

Want to have your donut and eat it too? The Deer Park Market is doing a Krispy Kreme fundraiser: pre-order some delicious Krispy Kreme donuts from their website, and they will be available for pickup at the July 2nd market by 8:30am. This fundraiser will help them fund the market and support and contribute to spreading small business love. They will have a limited amount of extra boxes on hand.
