WinterFest 2022 Logo Contest Winner

Brittany Knutson held up her winning logo design at the WinterFest committee meeting on December 16th at Pizza Factory. 

The Deer Park WinterFest 2022 planning committee has announced this year’s winning logo, which Brittany Knutson submitted.

The winning logo will be the face of WinterFest and will be on shirts, advertising, and publications for the event. In addition, Brittany received a prize of $50 and a free Winterfest 2022 shirt. The WinterFest 2022 commemorative black long-sleeved shirts featuring Brittney’s design are available at Yoke’s Fresh Market for $20.

WinterFest 2022 is scheduled for Saturday, January 15th, at Deer Park High School. Please mark your calendars! See you there.  

The annual WinterFest logo design contest was open to all community members. The submitted logos had to be no larger than 8” x 10” in size and must include the date and title: Deer Park Kiwanis WinterFest, January 15, 2022. The inclusion of a picture or image of a deer is optional.

Shirley Eleanor (Kintschi) McRae, 91, of Spokane and formerly Deer Park, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born to Morris Kintschi and Anna (Tanner) Kintschi on April 29, 1934, in Edwall, Washington. She graduated from Edwall High School in 1952, where she met her husband-to-be, John McRae. John and Shirley were married in 1954, and they lived in Redondo Beach, California, while John served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Spokane in 1955, living on Five Mile Prairie, then at Dartford, and finally in the house that John designed and built in Deer Park in 1976, where the family lived for over 42 years.

Closing Soon The Medicine Shoppe In Deer Park

The Medicine Shoppe in Deer Park is closing its doors permanently on November 28th due to undisclosed circumstances. All patient prescription files are being automatically transferred to Sixth Avenue Pharmacy in Spokane.
