Pavement Projects Underway

Resurfacing local roads has begun as part of the annual pavement preservation project. While a number of other streets are still a work in progress. Most of the work will be wrapping up this month, maybe.

Each year the city contracts crews to resurface small sections of roadway throughout the city. The roads are on a rotating list to ensure they all get the maintenance they need before becoming a problem. Adjustments are made to the list based on required repairs and other projects by construction developments or utilities.

The streets in this year’s project include:

  • Near the Eagles Lodge
    • South Avenue
    • Park Street
  • Housing near Arcadia
    • East Court
    • Parker Court
    • F Street
  • Near the Deer Park Airport
    • Airport Road

The entire pavement preservation project is expected to be completed by September 26th. Also near the Deer Park Airport the ongoing Cedar Road project should be completed by September 28th. The North Colville Road project is on track to be completed by the end of this month, however, there are a few factors that could stretch the project into mid-October.

There are a number of factors that dictate which roads receive the tender loving care of the contracted construction crews.  In order to receive grant funds, the city maintains a multi-year priority list of streets as part of the annual budgeting process. Grant funds, construction contracts, legal bidding requirements, supply & demand, all impact when the work is actually done. As a result the schedules for different projects in the same area sometimes overlap, despite the efforts of city planners.
