July’s Drive-Thru Free Food Distribution

During the first event in June 2021, Faith Lutheran Church in partnership with 2nd Harvest was able to serve 320 families with 17,000 pounds of food. These generous organizations are not done helping our community this summer and have scheduled two more events one this week in July, and the other in August.

The next of these events will be on July 21st from 10am to noon. This event is open to the public and does not require an appointment or any documentation. People will be able to get free produce, meat, shelf-stable foods, and other nutritious products. Organizers are following current CDC guidelines so they are using a drive-thru delivery system where food is loaded into vehicles so it moves quickly and efficiently. This event will go until noon or while supplies last. The last event will be on August 18th.

Faith Lutheran Church has been sponsoring this event for several years now and has been able to help many people in the process. Sponsorship does not just involve paying for some expenses needed to have the 2nd Harvest Mobile Market come to Deer Park, but also organizes volunteers and provides the location for distribution at their parking lot at 214 S. Weber Rd, Deer Park, WA 99006.

2nd Harvest is always looking for groups to partner with that will help bring their services to local communities. To learn more about how you can host a food or fund drive, go to: 2-harvest.org/host-a-fundraiser/

“A Single Sunbeam is Enough to Drive Away Many Shadows” ST Francis of Assisi

With a heavy heart we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend Susan G. Robideaux Emry. Susan was born April 18th, 1953, in Spokane, WA, to William and Reubie Robideaux. She went to join the Lord peacefully, in her sleep on August 5th, 2024, at her cherished home on Reflection Lake in Elk, WA. Susan grew up and rivaled her feisty, fun-loving, 5 brothers in Spokane, WA, where they performed musical skits for family friends. She attended Marycliff and Mead High Schools. She met her future husband, Brian (Bud) Emry, at a party and was instantly charmed when he tuned his harmonica in orange soda. Bud, in turn, was captivated by Susan’s party trick – reciting Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards.
