Approval Given for Main Street Apartments

Approval has been given to Bailey Holdings, LLC to renovate commercial space on Main Street into multi-family housing. Dave Hubert, Spokane County Hearing Examiner, approved the conditional-use permit after a public hearing was held via Zoom on November 19th, 2020.

Working with Bailey Holdings, LLC is Tom Bristol, a registered architect in the state of Washington. He has been involved in a number of downtown revitalization projects, taking 80-100 year old buildings and giving them a changed use. He sees this endeavor by Tom and Leah Bailey, of Bailey Holdings, LLC, “as a positive way to get people downtown and in the area.” The plans include converting 8,700 square feet of second floor commercial space at 29 Main Street into four separate one and two bedroom residential units, ranging in size from 590 square feet to 1,377 square feet. Roger Krieger, Community Services Director for the City of Deer Park, also attended the hearing. He said notices of the proposed use were made public, and there were no responses from the public concerning this project. He also stated the proposed use is in line with Deer Park’s Comprehensive Plan, the main goal of the plan being, “to encourage land use and development which enhances community character and provides greater opportunity to local residents and businesses.” Parking posed a challenge, being first come first served in the area, but they were able to create space for six covered parking spots, and additional space for motorcycles and bicycles closer to the building.

The approval comes with an understanding of compliance to all multi-family zone regulations in the Deer Park Municipal Code and all other applicable codes and regulations. The Baileys expressed they not only plan on achieving every code requirement, they plan on exceeding them.
