The lights shone bright as did the community spirit on December 5th, when Deer Park celebrated the lighting of our City Hall Christmas Tree.
Kicking off the chilly evening was a Festival of Lights Parade: a line of cars, trucks, tractors, and bicycles decorated in Christmas lights. The line up of sparkling vehicles made their way up Main Street and ended at City Hall. Among those gathered were our Miss Deer Park representatives, the Chamber of Commerce, and Mayor Tim Verzal.
Though some of the elements, such as hot cocoa and treats that were present last year were sadly missing this year, a strong community Christmas spirit was ever lingering.
The Chamber is grateful to Dishman Dodge, one of their newest members, for donating and organizing the raffle of a 2001 Lexus. The money gathered from the raffle will be used for downtown beautification projects throughout the year. This winter, the Chamber has partnered with Avista to provide a festive sight along Main Street with holiday banners and decorations. As summer arrives, the Chamber will update the decor to reflect the newest season.
