Baby Shower

Deer Park’s St. Mary Presentation Parish is hosting their biannual community baby shower for local new or expecting parents.

The Deer Park parish is part of “PREPARES”, a state-wide pregnancy and parenting support group with Spokane Catholic Charities. “It is a nurturing response of the Catholic community providing pregnancy and parenting support services from conception through the child’s fifth birthday”.

The shower is for local expectant parents or parents with a baby 9 months or younger, regardless of religion or belief. There will be games, snacks, prizes, layette supplies, diapers, and community resource referrals.

New parents just need to RSVP before the shower; contact Lee at 993-3765.

The shower will be held at 10am on June 15, at St. Mary Presentation Parish, 602 E. 6th Street Deer Park.

Additionally, contact the parish about their monthly diaper distribution.

Albert “Al” Stevens was born to Warren and Luella Stevens on December 4, 1937. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1955, attended EWU for two years, and served in the Army National Guard. Like his late brother Donald, he worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a firefighter but spent most of his career in sales.

US-395 Reopened Following Motorcycle & Pickup Collision

Traffic is moving again on US-395, but the investigation into today’s serious motorcycle crash is far from over.

As of 5pm today, all lanes of US-395 have been reopened to traffic. Earlier today, a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a white pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 395 and H Street, which is near Henery Hardware, forced a complete closure of the highway, resulting in significant gridlock through the heart of Deer Park.
