The Deer Park High School’s fall play opens November 15th at 5:00 PM, and continues its run on the 16th and 17th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Mixed Nuts is a slapstick comedy set in a “tiny and expensive apartment”, and “the play immediately comes alive with crazy larger than life characters, and is constantly twisting and turning,” says Ross McCrorie.
McCrorie is a new English teacher at DPHS, and while originally from Alaska, has been in the Spokane area since college at EWU. He is excited to be here and is very complimentary of the DPHS theater. Cast member Cory Root says he is “definitely doing an amazing job”.
Root plays “Mike”, the main character’s alter ego, who none of the other characters know exists, and who spends most of his time pointing out the flaws in “Michael’s” life. This will be Root’s dramatic debut and he’s discovering that acting is a great form of education. Not only has he seen improvements in his own confidence, but he’s also growing in his ability to understand the emotions of others.
A heads-up for families: this drama is rated PG-13 (informally by two DPHS students) with a variety of curse words and innuendo.
