We Heart Deer Park Back-to-School Event

Raising a child can feel hard and lonely at times – resources may seem difficult to find or utilize, and getting all of the back-to-school steps accomplished can seem daunting. Luckily, we live in a wonderful community where people take care of each other, and we value the future and our children. Much like the past years, several local churches, known as the faith community of Deer Park, are partnering with the Deer Park School District and the Deer Park business community to put on a fun-filled back-to-school event for families with children enrolled in either of the Deer Park elementary schools.

This year’s event is Monday, August 27th, from 3 pm to 5 pm at Arcadia Elementary, and will include music, free food, fun activities, face painting, haircuts, and sports physicals.

We Heart Deer Park is still accepting booth applications for the event.

The faith community also helps support children in need with school supplies and a backpack. To protect confidentiality, the group relies on the school counselors to distribute the supplies and backpacks as they see fit. Parents can send a message to the school counselor to request assistance with supplies as needed.

Looking to help support the event or help to sponsor a child? The 2018 donation goal of $3,500.00 is currently at $2,850.00 with $20.00 covering supplies and a backpack for one child. A big thank you to the large dollar contributors so far this year: Acceleration Therapy Services, Inspirus Credit Union, and Kiwanis of Deer Park.
