The City of Deer Park is moving closer to realizing a long-debated splash pad project, with funding allocated in the 2024 budget. To gather public input, the City has created a survey seeking feedback on the preferred location, features, and amenities. The deadline for responses is April 14th.
After years of debate, City Councilmembers have now been given access to official city email accounts. The discussion started before COVID and ended following the recent election, with the majority of Councilmembers in favor of joining the rest of the world online.

The newly appointed Deer Park Chamber of Commerce 2024 Board of Directors, led by President Kelsie Carlson, is preparing to tackle a major project: revitalizing the city’s downtown area. The Chamber, in partnership with Retail Strategies, has launched a survey to gather community input on the project, which is part of a three-year, $180,000 contract with the City of Deer Park.
For the first time in over 20 years, three new Councilmembers have simultaneously taken the oath of office. Former Councilmember Hellen “Dee” Cragun first took her position in 1997, lost her reelection attempt last year.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation to the residents of Deer Park for their overwhelming support in the recent City Council election. It is with immense gratitude that I acknowledge the trust and confidence you have placed in me by casting your votes in my favor.
Deer Park City Council has enacted a law addressing homelessness and public space usage. Influenced by legal considerations at the federal level, the ordinance introduces clear definitions, identifies restricted areas, and establishes procedures for homeless camp removal.
During the latest City Council meeting, concerns were raised about the upcoming state-allowed increase of property taxes, prompting a brief discussion on the property tax limits. Later this year, the council will vote on property taxes and the city budget for 2024.
During the most recent Deer Park City Council meeting, the council passed a resolution in support of Spokane County Measure 1, which proposes a new 0.2% sales tax on purchases. A portion of the funds would be distributed to Deer Park for law enforcement costs.
