A power outage that began at 1:36 PM today affected Deer Park and a broad surrounding area, extending as far north as Loon Lake and south to Nine Mile Falls. Avista estimates power will be restored around 4:30 PM.

Unfortunately, the system in which we live, plays to only two parties, that hold a strangle hold on power. As such what is one then to assume? That my identity in Christ is dependent upon who I vote for or don’t vote for? Shall I say then that it is my Christian Duty to vote for Biden or Trump? Neither statement is valid. The shame is a false equivalence within political and false religious dogma.

Deer Park Home Link asked students to dive into a world of creativity for the Young Writers Contest. The results are yet another collection of outstanding young narrative storytellers. Nine winners from three age brackets went home with cash prizes.

Bear Lake Regional Park is closed to the public as Spokane County Parks begins a multi-phase renovation project. The closure allows for repairing eroding shorelines and enhancing public access in two high-use areas.

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers invites high school students in Washington’s Fifth District to participate in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. The deadline for submission is April 26th, 2024.

Starting today, April 1st, H Street will be closed to through traffic from its intersection with Colville Street to an unspecified point to the west. According to signs posted by the City of Deer Park, the closure is expected to last until April 5th. Unfortunately, first responders were unaware of the closure today during a medical emergency.
