In the days following Governor Jay Inslee’s announcement to suspend school until the end of April, chaos erupted. Stores were swarming, carts packed to the brim with staple home products, like toilet paper and soap, and it wasn’t long before hand sanitizer was completely off the shelves.

Each month’s prompt will be in the newspaper and on Facebook. Our favorite stories will be published the following month. Responses will be judged on creativity and the ability to communicate a story. Submit your six-word story by the 25th of each month.

The Pend Oreille County Master Gardeners are offering a free, live, internet class called “Gardening for Beginners”, on Thursday, April 9th, from 6:30 -8:30pm The class will be taught by local Master Gardeners, Kamori Cattadoris and Dixie Chichester and will cover such topics as locating a garden, soil and water basics, purchasing seeds or plants, planting techniques, maintaining a garden and harvesting produce, all geared toward the beginning gardener.
