Nothing is more irritating to me than seeing plants labeled with misleading or outright false information. In the case of plants labeled as ‘mosquito repellents’ (ex. citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, mints, catmint, and lemon balm) these are sadly, inflated claims.

It is the notification that no one wants to receive at this time: “you have been exposed to an individual that has tested positive for COVID-19.” The fluid, seemingly ever-changing, situation created by this current pandemic can cause confusion and stress.

After passing the state legislature, Governor Jay Inslee signed into law a comprehensive bill that would require all K-12 schools across Washington to teach sexual education to their students. Since the passing of the bill in late March, there has been a strong response across Washington that has resulted in a movement to repeal the new law.

This year’s Settler’s Day turned Deer Park Royalty Parade was as much about town spirit as it was about honoring its Royalty. As citizens of Deer Park gathered to cheer on the Royal Court of Miss Deer Park Ainsley Carpenter, Princess Isabella Sedona, and Princess Janessa Sexton, there also emerged an impromptu trail of citizens who joined in and followed the Royals along their parade route.

We Heart Deer Park organizers have come to the decision that their annual back-to-school event will simply not work out this year. This decision was born of out much consideration, as well as discussions between their lead pastors and school Superintendent Travis Hanson.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Washington State Department of Ecology are seeking public input from interested parties about the Prospectus of a proposed 58-acre wetland mitigation bank just outside Deer Park’s city limits. Public comment will be accepted until August 24.
