The WinterFest committee recently announced venue changes for this year’s event. Indoor activities will now take place in the Deer Park Fire Station meeting rooms, and Perrins Field is now the location for some outdoor ones instead of the Deer Park High school.

How the City of Deer Park communicates with residents was one of the most discussed issues at the last Deer Park City Council meeting. A number of committees are in the works for the future of Deer Park including the city pool and the City Hall building. There was also a moment of silence for Don Stevens.

Removing a law that protects residents is one of the first things Mayor Verzal has put on the agenda for 2022. The ordinance is designed to prevent new laws from being created quickly and haphazardly.

Two new leaders are taking office in Deer Park as 2021 comes to a close. Mayor Tim Verzal was also re-elected to continue his mayoral role for an additional four years.

Cloth stockings were hung with cheer, while Deer Park Gazette readers colored paper ones with care, some bright, others shiny, but all such a present to see. Winners were picked from age groups three.

A few Christmases back, my family discovered that nobody liked shopping for a live tree. It was a cold, wet night and we had just come back home from finally picking out the “perfect” tree. I was impatient, my husband was grumpy, my son was nearly in tears.

The Deer Park WinterFest 2022 planning committee has announced this year’s winning logo, which Brittany Knutson submitted.

Fireworks illuminated the sky above Deer Park near the Airport as Knight Construction held their Christmas celebrations. Doug Knight invited the community to enjoy the firework show. View more photos from the evening below.

The Deer Park Kiwanis Club presented the money to Deer Park schools to make sure kids stay warm and dry this winter.
