During Washington State’s wildfire crisis, Governor Inslee visited Spokane County. With the Oregon and Gray Fires continuing to ravage thousands of acres, Inslee’s presence allows him to better communicate the devastating effect on our state to secure federal aid.
Evacuees fleeing the Oregon Road Fire have a range of resources available to them. We have compiled a list of what is available and how others can help people impacted by the fire. For those interested in volunteering & donating, please contact the organizations listed beforehand, as needs will change over time.
Deer Park welcomed a colorful addition as Flowers by Catherine opened its doors to the public. The grand Ribbon Cutting Event took place on August 9th. This shop is owned and operated by local florist Catherine Bratt.

I am writing in response to the Meet the Candidates forum held at the Tri County Christian Center on July 26tth, advertised as a forum for the community to engage with the five candidates.
Internet options in Deer Park are limited; however, as early as February there could be a new option available. Starlink is unlike other internet providers and will be a new best option for many.
The Green House Food Bank and Community Resources has updated its hours. The food bank’s Monday hours now go into the evening to better serve those in need. This decision represents a powerful commitment to aid and connect to residents.
The Community Summer Lunch Program in Deer Park, which served vital meals to youth, ended prematurely this year due to low community participation and communication issues. Operated by the Deer Park School District through the Summer Food Service Program, had to be relocated to Perrins Field for this summer.
A summer destination was closed due to staffing challenges, leaving a community disheartened and questioning. With record-high temperatures forecasted immediately following the shutdown, some community members feel heated.
Excitement buzzes as a new juice and tea shop finds its home in the Olsen Building in Deer Park. Behind their doors revealed a place of well-being with fresh pressed juices and healing beverages, embracing community support and overall wellness.
Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers kicked off her August work period with a roundtable event in Deer Park on July 31st at the Spokane County Fire District #4 meeting room. She talked with some community members at the event to better understand the area’s challenges and concerns. McMorris Rodgers gave an update on her work in the People’s House.
