Primary candidates campaigning for Deer Park City Council positions will participate in a town hall debate at the Pickett Fence in Deer Park. This event will allow voters to get to know candidates through a question-answer section which will include questions from event hosts, the community, and each other.
The Ford Corkscrew fire is still an active firefight. It is far from over and will theoretically last days before total control can be established. Currently, the total acreage is over 15,000, as reported by Steven County Fire District 1.

Winds have pushed ash and debris from the Ford Corkscrew fire to the Deer Park area. The fire started on August 15th and has already burned over 3,000 acres and triggered level 3 evacuations.

The official ballot drop box closed at 8pm for the primary election that took place on August 3rd this year. The early results are in and laid out here. However, the county canvassing boards will be certifying the results as of August 17.
