Cecil Emil Tobeck, 96, of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026. Born December 9, 1929, in Clayton, Washington, Cecil lived a full and meaningful life devoted to family, hard work, and community.

He attended Clayton Grade School and graduated from Deer Park High School (Class of 1947). Cecil served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electrician aboard a naval bomber in the 1950s. Following his service, he worked for the Great Northern Railroad, retiring in 1993 after a long and dedicated career.

Cecil enjoyed motorcycles, classic cars, flying, and later golf. He treasured time spent with family and friends and was known for his kindness, warmth, and steady presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. Cecil is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, including Mike (Holly) Tobeck; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on his memory.

A memorial service will be held April 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Deer Park, WA.

US-395 Reopened Following Motorcycle & Pickup Collision

Traffic is moving again on US-395, but the investigation into today’s serious motorcycle crash is far from over.

As of 5pm today, all lanes of US-395 have been reopened to traffic. Earlier today, a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a white pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 395 and H Street, which is near Henery Hardware, forced a complete closure of the highway, resulting in significant gridlock through the heart of Deer Park.
