Fire erupted from a van parked in front of Sculley’s on Monday. A quick response by Spokane County Fire District #4 crews prevented a vehicle fire from spreading to the structure. Traffic was blocked on A Street for a short time while crews worked on the fire.
Engine 41 was dispatched to Sculley’s Auto at 25 S. Main after a work van parked beneath the building’s canopy became fully engulfed in flames. Due to the rapid deployment of a water attack line, the crew was able to knock down the intense blaze within minutes, successfully limiting damage almost exclusively to the vehicle.
The incident was initially reported around 2:34pm on Monday, October 6th, 2025. Upon arrival at the auto shop, the Engine 41 crew was confronted with an active vehicle fire burning dangerously close to the main building structure. Spokane County Sheriff Deputies were also dispatched, and a portion of A Street was shut down during the response. The fire crew’s immediate action ensured that, while the work van was considered a total loss, the building itself sustained only minimal, superficial damage to the adjacent canopy structure. The scene was officially marked as “Closed” by Spokane County Fire District #4 at 3:36pm, just over an hour after the initial call.
This location of the fire is one of the two Deer Park properties revitalized by local business owner Jeremy Sculley. The structure that is located at 25 S. Main was originally built in 1917, according to county records. The improvements made by Sculley have contributed to the aesthetic and business vitality of the downtown core. For many longtime residents, the site holds history, as it was previously known as CJ Auto Repair in the decades prior to Sculley acquiring the building.
The cause of the vehicle fire, any potential official damage estimates, and the status of the van’s driver or owner have not yet been confirmed by authorities. We reached out to Sculley’s Automotive and were told that no one was injured as a result of the fire.
