Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Come on and all to Deer Park Homelink Drama II presentation of “A Winter’s Gift,” a charming Christmas story set in medieval Canterbury. The plot boasts of singing minstrels, monks, Vikings, a missing princess, and the meaning of giving at Christmastime.
This weekend, December 13th and 14th at the Deer Park High School Ken Fisher Theater, the Homelinks Drama Team will bring audiences along for a playful middle age Christmas tale. This show has everything you could want in a medieval Christmas play. From energetic minstrels, interrupting trumpeters, and bumbling Vikings, to gracious monks, kindly nuns, a gallant knight, and mistaken identities.
Instructor and director, Jessica Emmans has been working with a cast of twenty-two students, plus student stage manager, Micaiah Knox, all between 6th and 12th grade. Some of these young thespians have been part of multiple productions now, but a handful of them are new to the stage. All have been working incredibly hard and are excited for audiences to see this work come to fruition.
In addition to the student cast and crew, Crystelle Knox and Rebecca Basta have been integral to the production. Knox teaches the Set Design class; she and her five students have built and painted everything from castle walls to stained glass abbey windows. Basta has curated the costumes for this production, assembling pieces and in some cases making them.
“Also,” Director Emmans said, “We seriously could not put these plays on without all the help of our supportive staff and our wonderful families! This is a seriously amazing community to be a part of.”
