Deer Park Students Awarded Over $17,000 In Scholarships

Deer Park Dollars for Scholars(DPDS) has awarded scholarships to local students. The fifteen recipients were announced at the Shining Star Awards night and honored at the Home Link Graduation ceremony. Check out the complete list of recipients and join us in congratulating them.

Founded in 2001, Deer Park Dollars for Scholars (DPDS) is dedicated to assisting local students in their pursuit of higher education. As an affiliate of Scholarship America, the organization relies on its passionate volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to secure scholarship funds. By offering financial aid, DPDS helps students achieve their academic ambitions and set a course for future success.

The DPDS awarded nineteen scholarships totaling $17,405 to fifteen students. Fourteen recipients are from Deer Park High School, and one is from Deer Park’s Home Link. The awardees were announced at the Shining Star Awards night at Deer Park High School and a presentation during the Home Link Graduation ceremony.

How Scholarships Are Awarded

Students can apply for local and national scholarships through the Deer Park Dollars For Scholars (DPDS) website at: Deerpark.dollarsforscholars.org. Applying is done online, and only one application is necessary to apply for all awards available. Seniors must apply by April to be considered.

Though seniors are encouraged to apply for multiple scholarships, the board ensures that rewards are evenly distributed by selecting a different student for each scholarship available and coordinating winners with other scholarships in the community that are not affiliated with DPDS.

Some collegiate partners of Dollars for Scholars will match awards for students. After an institution’s scholarships and loans are applied, each award will be factored in by financial aid from a student’s unmet need. An institution’s aid will not be replaced with awards given by DPDS so students don’t lose any money towards their school costs.

Volunteers and Donations Needed

DPDS is looking for volunteers to help with fundraising events, maintain the DPDS website, and solicit donations. Meetings are held once or twice a year.

Deer Park Dollars for Scholars welcomes contributions to their scholarship funds. By donating, individuals can directly impact the educational journeys of Deer Park graduating students.
