Culpepper & Merriweather Circus Returns

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming back to Deer Park thanks to the sponsorship of the Deer Park Kiwanis Club. The event promises thrilling performances, including aerial acts, big cats, and more. Enjoy a day filled with family fun, from tent raising to circus shows.

The Culpepper & Merriweather(C&M) Circus is making a much-anticipated stop in Deer Park on June 12th. This authentic One-Ring Big Top Circus will be set up at the Deer Park Sports Complex, located at 801 S. Weber, with performances scheduled at 5pm and 7:30pm. Known for providing quality family entertainment for 38 years, C&M Circus offers a captivating experience for attendees of all ages. Adding to the fun is everyone’s favorite Circus Clown, Leo Acton. Each show lasts about 90 minutes. All funds the Deer Park Kiwanis Club raised during this event will be returned to the community to support service projects focused on our local kids.

Some of the featured attractions this year are: 

  • Big Cats, presented by Trey Key
  • Simone, the Aerialist Extraordinaire
  • 10th generation Loyal Bareback Horse Riders
  • Perez Daredevil Duo on the Tight Rope and Wheel of Destiny
  • Elizabeth Ayala’s impressive foot juggling and hair hang

The circus day schedule begins at 9:30am with the tent raising and a behind-the-scenes tour, offering a glimpse into circus life and animal care. The Midway opens at 4pm, featuring pony rides, a moon bounce, a giant slide, face painting, and various concessions.

Tickets

  • Advance tickets
    • Priced at $13 for adults and $8 for children (2-12) or seniors (65+), they are available at Yoke’s Fresh Market and from Kiwanis members at the Deer Park Saturday Market. They can also be bought online at Cm-circus.square.site/
  • On Circus Day
    • Box office tickets will be slightly higher, at $16 for adults and $9 for children or seniors, and sales will start one hour before each show.

Fred R. Miller

FRED R. MILLER,  passed away at home on Jan 14, 2026.  Fred was born in Spokane WA, on April 4,1944.   He grew up in Spokane attending Central Valley High School until his senior year, graduating from Deer Park High School in 1962.  Fred enlisted in the Navy out of high school, spending time in San Diego and Annapolis. He later graduated from WSU with distinction.

Shirley McRae Passes Away at 91

Shirley Eleanor (Kintschi) McRae, 91, of Spokane and formerly Deer Park, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born to Morris Kintschi and Anna (Tanner) Kintschi on April 29, 1934, in Edwall, Washington. She graduated from Edwall High School in 1952, where she met her husband-to-be, John McRae. John and Shirley were married in 1954, and they lived in Redondo Beach, California, while John served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Spokane in 1955, living on Five Mile Prairie, then at Dartford, and finally in the house that John designed and built in Deer Park in 1976, where the family lived for over 42 years.
