Riverside Rams Girls Soccer vs. Newport

In a recent conference girls’ soccer matchup between the Newport Grizzlies and the Riverside Rams, the Rams emerged victorious with a dominant 5-1 win. The game featured impressive performances, including a crucial penalty kick and strong defensive efforts, ultimately securing the Rams’ triumph.

The Rams started off taking the initiative as freshman Layla Baker netted a putback shot, putting her team in the lead early on. However, Newport responded when Ella Monk slotted a penalty kick into the upper right corner of the net.

As the match progressed, Riverside took control of the game and started to dominate offensively. The Rams relentlessly launched attacks, with an impressive total of 18 shots on goal. In contrast, the Grizzlies had three shots on goal during the game.

The standout performers of the day included the goalkeepers from both teams. Newport’s Emily Hoffman exhibited exceptional skills with nine saves, attempting to keep her team in contention. On the other side, Riverside’s Mariah Mally displayed her goalkeeping prowess with two important saves.

The Riverside Rams secured their victory with goals from Hayley Kasinger, Ashlee Clauson (via penalty kick), Lainey Schweiger, and Annabella McDonald. Their teamwork and relentless determination paid off, resulting in an impressive 5-1 win over the Newport Grizzlies.
