Music Boosters Bands Together

Young musicians gave color to the air at the Musicale Dessert and Silent Auction fundraiser last Friday. You can still participate in an additional online auction to support our Deer Park Band & Choir program.

The Music Booster’s in-person fundraiser was filled with door prizes, bidding, acknowledgments, and a whole lot of music. First, we heard from the Deer Park Middle School Jazz Band. Then the crowd was serenaded by the Deer Park High School(DPHS) Hart Chorale Choir. The distinctive sounds of the Stage Steel Pan Band followed the Choir. Finally, to end the night with the toe-tapping tunes from the DPHS Jazz Band, the last song being called the “Chameleon.”

The event could not be hosted at the Deer Park Highschool as it had in the past. Instead, it was moved to the Deer Park Fire Station District 4, significantly reducing allowed attendance. The event itself took place on March 11th at 7pm. To encourage more bidders, the group is also hosting an additional online silent auction giving you the ability to bid on 20 fantastic items. Bidding will go through March 25th. The goal for the online auction is $3,000. You can check out the auction at:  DPGazette.com/dpmbauction

Deer Park Music Boosters (DPMB) is  a new combined group of parents from the previous Choir Boosters and Deer Park Band Boosters. They joined forces after it was decided by Deer Park High School to combine the band and choir, with Cory Thompson being the Music Director, teaching both groups. The volunteers of DPMB goal is to help children and students to achieve their goals in Deer Park Stag Band and Choir. They do this by helping organize and lead the various fundraisers that raise money to pay for band & choir activities, such as covering registration fees, buying meals and food for students, and helping to cover lodging costs on overnight travel. All of which minimizes the costs to students and families, making it easier for all students who love music to participate.

“A Single Sunbeam is Enough to Drive Away Many Shadows” ST Francis of Assisi

With a heavy heart we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend Susan G. Robideaux Emry. Susan was born April 18th, 1953, in Spokane, WA, to William and Reubie Robideaux. She went to join the Lord peacefully, in her sleep on August 5th, 2024, at her cherished home on Reflection Lake in Elk, WA. Susan grew up and rivaled her feisty, fun-loving, 5 brothers in Spokane, WA, where they performed musical skits for family friends. She attended Marycliff and Mead High Schools. She met her future husband, Brian (Bud) Emry, at a party and was instantly charmed when he tuned his harmonica in orange soda. Bud, in turn, was captivated by Susan’s party trick – reciting Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards.
