January in Print – Letter From The Publisher

As some of you may know, the Deer Park Gazette is a family-owned newspaper. Ellie Chambers, our editor, is my sister. While preparing the January issue, our mother, Joan Schut, passed away. As a result of this loss, we needed to take a short break to remember her and regroup as we prepare for our future without her. There was not a January issue of the Gazette this year; however, January news articles will be available on the website and via social media. Our regular schedule will resume with the February edition of the paper printed as normal.

For our sponsors, we will be making adjustments to your billing statement, if you have prepaid.

For our subscribers, we have extended your subscription by one month.

We appreciate your patience during this time.

Sincerely,
Richie Schut, Publisher – Deer Park Gazette

I’m writing in support of the proposed Replacement Bond for School Construction. I’m an active community member & volunteer. I am impressed and grateful for the prioritization the School Board and Bond Committee are giving to the feedback they’ve received from the community about concerns over an increase in their tax bill. Every Committee and Board member I’ve encountered is eager to answer questions.

Letter To Editor – Jesus wasn’t a Republican. Nor was he a Democrat.

Unfortunately, the system in which we live, plays to only two parties, that hold a strangle hold on power. As such what is one then to assume? That my identity in Christ is dependent upon who I vote for or don’t vote for? Shall I say then that it is my Christian Duty to vote for Biden or Trump? Neither statement is valid. The shame is a false equivalence within political and false religious dogma.
