Greenhouse Moving

There was a recent update via the GreenHouse newsletter and on their Facebook page.  The announcement was that the GreenHouse store is moving. The last open day for the thrift store will be April 19th, with them leaving the location on the 30th.

When asked where the new location is, GreenHouse Director Melanie Allen said, “Unfortunately, we do not have a new place secured at this point. But, we’re excited for the chance to start over in our new place as soon as possible.”  Allen went on to say they plan to have a Grand Re-Opening celebration once they find and are set up in their new location.

So, why are they moving?  Turns out that the Renner Education & Arts Development (READ) Center, located next door, needs more space and will be expanding into the current GreenHouse storefront, as well as doing some remodeling. The GreenHouse is moving to give the READ Center the room needed.

Additionally, there will be a silent auction on Saturday, April 27th, at the Fire Station Community Room from 6:30 to 8pm. There will be a dessert bar sponsored by Thrivent Financial and lots of great items to bid on. Tickets are $5 and available at the Thrift Store, Food Bank, and from our volunteers and staff beforehand, as well as available at the door.

In coming days watch the GreenHouse Facebook page dpgazette.com/fbgreenhouse for closeout sales.

The GreenHouse is still accepting donations of “soft items”  such as clothing shoes, purses, and bedding. If you’re not sure, have other types of items, or a large load, they ask that you call first at 509-276-6897.

Melanie Allen has been the director at the GreenHouse since June 2018 and would like to introduce the 2019 Board of Directors:

  • Travis Hansen (President) – Superintendent, Deer Park School District
  • Janice Purdy (Vice President) – Long-time GreenHouse Volunteer
  • Pam Clare (Secretary) – Current GreenHouse Volunteer
  • LaNette Harper – Current GreenHouse Volunteer
  • Tim Ollietti – Principal, Deer Park Middle School
  • Jennifer Arnold – Service Coordinator at Deer Park Crossing Apartments
  • Ray Purdy – Long-time GreenHouse Volunteer
  • Michael Card – Manager, Washington Trust Bank
