Sweatshirts are $25.00 at Yoke’s Fresh Market, and were designed by local Deer Park High School student Hunter Roche.       

Craft And Vendor Fair (open from 9am – 4pm)

In the Deer Park High School Commons will be the yearly art show and sale, sponsored by the Tri-County Association of the Arts. This event will feature several local artists; no admission fee required. There will be approximately 35 vendors in this area, offering a variety of craft and art wares.

The Deer Park Kiwanis Club will host a Children’s Book Giveaway.  Books for all ages will be available to choose from for free. Many are well loved, but have much life in them to enrich our kids’ reading lives.

Concessions will also be available in this area.  Proceeds will go to benefit the Deer Park High School Key Club & DECA.

Library Book Sale (open from 9am – 4pm)

Away from the High School, inside the Deer Park Library Meeting Room will be a Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Deer Park Library.  The funds from all Friends of the Deer Park Library benefit many library and community events.

Frostbite 5K (check in 9:45 – 10:45am, race starts at 11am)

The traditional cold weather 5K. Snow, rain, or sunshine, this flat 3.1 mile track will take you on a fun winter journey through some local neighborhoods. Runners and walkers welcome; however, please leave your pets at home.

The 5K organized by the Deer Park Cross Country Team and sponsored by Comcast.

Please pre-register with the form online at the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce website at .

  • $10 for pre-registration with no shirt
  • $15 to register the day of the race with no shirt
  • $30 for race and long-sleeved t-shirt (pre-registration required)

Check-in on race day at the Deer Park High School, Room G-116.

The race starts and finishes at Weber Road. Winners and prizes will be shared at 11:45am in the Commons.

Chess Tournament (check in 8:30 – 9:30am, event begins at 10am)

In rooms F-117, 115, and 106, students of varying ages up to high school seniors will be competing to qualify for the Washington State Chess Tournament. Pre-registration is required for this event, with prizes to be handed out in the Commons at 4pm by our local royalty.

4-on-4 Volleyball Tournament (check in at 8:30am, event begins at 9am)

The gym will be busy with 12 volleyball teams of 4 players each. Come to enjoy some healthy competition, and to cheer for your favorite team.

Opening Ceremonies (10am)

The Deer Park High School Commons will feature the opening ceremonies for this year’s Winterfest with the FAFB Civil Air Patrol Squadron Color Guard, our 2018 honored citizen, Leilani Bly, and clues to find the Mayor’s Rock and the chance to win the $50 prize.

Children’s Craft Activities (10am-12pm and again 3pm-4pm)

In the Faculty Lounge at the High School, parents can work on crafts with their children, creating new masterpieces to take home and enjoy. This event will have refreshments out in the lobby area, provided by Yokes Fresh Market.

Lego Contest (10am-2pm)

In the High School Library, the  Friends of Deer Park Library will have supplies for a free Lego building contest. Take part in this fun event and show our community what your imagination can create. Prizes will be awarded in the Commons at 3pm by local royalty.

Musical Entertainment (11am-4pm)

Visit the Commons throughout WinterFest to enjoy performances by several talented local groups.

  • Sweet Adelines (11am)
    • This all-female barber-shop style group is sure to make you smile!
  • High School Choir (12pm)   
    • Performing under the direction of Christina Thomas.
  • Wild Rose Ramblers Square Dancers(1pm)
    • Come watch and learn how to square dance with some local members and a caller. Spectators are welcome to step in and enjoy the fun as well!
  • Jazz Bands (Middle and High School) (2pm)
    • Performing under the direction of Cory Thompson. Come see how talented our local students truly are!
  • Ashley Pyle (3:15pm)
    • Local, multi-talented singer/songwriter; also plays the piano, guitar, and flute.

Outhouse Races (12pm)

Just outside the high school on the baseball fields, teams of five will be racing to earn this year’s title of winner, and to earn some of the cash prizes available. Bring your team consisting of four runners and one person to sit in the “outhouse” to participate. No registration required for this event sponsored by Fred’s Automotive.

Closing Ceremony (4:15pm)

Come help our community wrap up a busy day with a recap of the day’s events, and some visiting with new and old friends alike.

Denette Leeann March was born on 08-21-2002 to Lonnie and Tracy March in Spokane, WA. She grew up in Deer Park, WA where she spent her childhood on her family dairy goat farm and Animal rescue, traveling extensively and enjoying all things school with an influence in FFA, 4-H , and production.  

In all the cracks of Denette’s life from 6 years old to shortly prior to passing she was an avid and passionate concert attendee and traveler, in her short time in this life she traveled to 15 countries with some of her favorites destinations including Ireland, London, Hawaii, Belize, New York, Forks, La Push, Montana, and countless Caribbean islands.

Fred R. Miller

FRED R. MILLER,  passed away at home on Jan 14, 2026.  Fred was born in Spokane WA, on April 4,1944.   He grew up in Spokane attending Central Valley High School until his senior year, graduating from Deer Park High School in 1962.  Fred enlisted in the Navy out of high school, spending time in San Diego and Annapolis. He later graduated from WSU with distinction.

Shirley McRae Passes Away at 91

Shirley Eleanor (Kintschi) McRae, 91, of Spokane and formerly Deer Park, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born to Morris Kintschi and Anna (Tanner) Kintschi on April 29, 1934, in Edwall, Washington. She graduated from Edwall High School in 1952, where she met her husband-to-be, John McRae. John and Shirley were married in 1954, and they lived in Redondo Beach, California, while John served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Spokane in 1955, living on Five Mile Prairie, then at Dartford, and finally in the house that John designed and built in Deer Park in 1976, where the family lived for over 42 years.
