Deer Park Dollars for Scholars – Letter To The Editor

Our local Dollars for Scholars board members are actively raising funds to again award scholarships to Deer Park High School seniors. Deer Park Dollars for Scholars was founded in 2001 as a locally supported and operated chapter of Scholarship America, Our chapter is run by community volunteers, we raise scholarship funds to assist local students to reach for and achieve their educational goals. Deer Park Dollars for Scholars is a non-profit, tax-exempt scholarship foundation. Dollars raised in the Deer Park area stay in the Deer Park area.

In 2018, Deer Park Dollars for Scholars awarded 17 scholarships totaling $7,475 to 15 seniors.  This year we want to increase how many students we help. With rising college costs and reductions in federal aid, the need for additional scholarship assistance continues to grow.

Here is what some recent scholarship recipients said:

Shelby wrote “I used part of my scholarship money I received from your committee to buy textbooks during my first year of college. I am so thankful for your kindness and generosity towards the youth and college-bound students in the Deer Park Community!”

Heidi shared “Dollars for Scholars has helped me with my goal of graduating college with no debt. I have needed to work throughout my years in college, but my work load is light because of scholarship money. This has helped me stay focused on my education.”

We are hoping you could become a scholarship sponsor.  To become a sponsor just review the enclosed form and return to Deer Park Dollars for Scholars P.O. Box 1241 Deer Park, WA 99006.

We would be happy to talk with you to answer any questions.

Letter To The Editor – Vote Yes for the kids, for the future!

I’m writing in support of the proposed Replacement Bond for School Construction. I’m an active community member & volunteer. I have made it a priority and taken the time to learn how this bond will be used. I’ve found an open-door policy and full in regards to the use and justification of the bond. I am impressed and grateful for the prioritization the School Board and Bond Committee are giving to the feedback they’ve received from the community about concerns over an increase in their tax bill. Every Committee and Board member I’ve encountered is eager to answer questions.
