Ready, Set, Play at Swinyard

On August 15th, the city removed the caution tape from around the new play equipment and filled the area with bark for safety. Within minutes of completion flocks of kids could be found climbing, swinging, hanging upside down, sliding, and laughing. Stephanie Lloyd, one of the parents whose kids were enjoying the new attractions at Swinyard said, “I think it’s great” speaking of the new play equipment.

What will you find new when you visit the park next, a climber, playhouse, diggers, and little slide playgroup for recommended age 2-5 as well as an Appalachian Climber for kids about 5-12 years old. Swinyard Park is looking better than it has in years and seems to have a very bright future.

Letter To The Editor – School Levy Importance

As a city council member in the late 70’s and early 80’s and a city employee for 24 years I have heard a lot of misinformation disseminated through “coffee shop” talk and later social media. It has always concerned me to hear incorrect information passed along by people who don’t bother to ask for the facts, when they are readily available. Right now I am hearing of things being said about the Deer Park School levy, particularly the need for a new bus barn, that are troubling.
