Sandra Lynn Kircher, age 73, and a long time resident of the Valley area, went home to be with her Lord on the evening of December 20, 2020. Sandee was born to Elmer and Margaret (Sisson) McQuire on February 23, 1947 in Tampa, Florida.

The students in Deer Park High School’s career and technical education floral and horticulture classes are getting their hands in soil and sowing seeds for their future career successes.
On January 17, 2020 Susan Joan Bithell Lyons of Deer Park WA, walked through the door marked the servants entrance and into the arms of the Lord she dearly cherished and loved. She passed away at home peacefully in sleep from natural causes. Sue had just celebrated turning 76 on December 29, 2020. She was born on December 29, 1944 at 8:02 PM at Deaconess hospital in Spokane WA to Cleo Juanita Bithell and Robert James Bithell. Sue moved around a lot as a child so when she settled in Deer Park WA in 1964 she said she would never move again in her life and resided in the
Upcoming election in April offers hope for one school district. A special election on February 9th, 2021 asked voters to replace the expiring three-year Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy. This levy, if approved, would not change or increase current tax rates. Schools use their EP&O Levy funds for many different learning programs and activities outside of state-funded basic education, including but not limited to programs in their community like:
Governor Inslee announced Karen Johnson, PhD, as the director for the newly established Washington State Office of Equity. Johnson, previously the equity and inclusion administrator for the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC), started her new duties as director in March.
Local, state, or national emergencies should not stand in the way of our students graduating from high school. Governor Inslee recently signed a house bill which provides a waiver of certain high school graduation requirements.
Taylor Lyons, a senior at Deer Park High School, is also a Running Start student at Spokane Community College. She loves the social aspect of school, but especially loves the freedom to work and go to the gym that Running Start allows her. She does all of her classes on-line and is able to work on her own schedule. She is an athlete, and has been playing basketball since third grade. In introducing her, Principal Joe Feist called her a “rock star and good citizen”. Her ambition is to major in Physical Training, with a minor in High School Athletic Coaching at Whitworth University. She may very well return to her high school as the Head Coach! Taylor’s mother also attended Deer Park HS, and graduated in 1990.
