Lady Stags Claim 3rd @ State Tournament Win Over Prosser

The Deer Park High School Lady Stags secured a hard-fought 52-50 victory over the Prosser Mustangs to claim third place in the 2025 Washington State Girls Basketball Tournament. In a game filled with momentum swings, clutch performances, and late-game drama, Deer Park overcame a furious second-half rally from Prosser to finish their season on a high note.

The Lady Stags came out firing, overwhelming the Mustangs with a dominant 14-2 start in the opening quarter. Their relentless defensive pressure and efficient offense extended the lead to 25-7 with just under four minutes left in the first half. By halftime, Deer Park appeared to be in complete control, holding a 25-12 advantage.

However, Prosser wasn’t ready to back down. The Mustangs stormed out of the locker room with an aggressive full-court press and half-court trap that rattled the Lady Stags. Capitalizing on Deer Park’s turnovers, Prosser racked up 21 second-half points off takeaways, trimming the deficit to 38-28 by the end of the third quarter.

The Mustangs’ offense caught fire, shooting an impressive 51% from the field in the second half. A 16-3 run erased Deer Park’s once 18-point cushion, bringing the game to a dramatic 45-45 tie. With the momentum fully in Prosser’s favor, the Lady Stags needed to dig deep.

What followed was a frantic final two minutes featuring four lead changes and two ties. With 12 seconds remaining and the score knotted at 50, Prosser committed a crucial foul, sending Ashlan Bryant to the free-throw line. Under immense pressure, Bryant calmly sank both shots, sealing the 52-50 victory for Deer Park.

Bryant led all scorers with 20 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. Jacey Boesel provided a strong inside presence, finishing with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Brooklyn Coe added 14 points, while Berlyn Zimmerer anchored the defense with two key blocks before fouling out  With the win, the Lady Stags wrapped up an outstanding 27-1 season. With a young and talented roster, Deer Park looks poised to make another deep tournament run in 2026.
