Celebration of Life for Keith D. Reilly

Keith D. Reilly, 1948-2023

Keith dedicated his life to the service of others. He graduated from Rogers High School in Spokane before attending Eastern Washington State College, which became Eastern Washington University. He began his teaching career in Kennewick, WA before moving to Deer Park. Keith taught at Arcadia Elementary before moving to Deer Park High School for many years of service. Over the years he coached multiple sports, taught English, Math, and Driver’s Ed, just to name a few. In addition to teaching Keith served the community as Deer Park City Council Member, Mayor of Deer Park, Volunteer Firefighter, Fire Chief, EMT, and Foster Parent of boys who became his family for life.

After retiring from teaching in Deer Park, Keith spent a year in Japan teaching English, traveled to major natural disaster sites providing disaster relief through the Red Cross, overnight volunteer at Ronald McDonald House, was on the Board of Equalization, Licensed Mediator, Hearing Officer for Spokane Housing Authority and proud contributor as an EWU Alum and to Dollars for Scholars in Deer Park.

Keith was generous with his time to his family and a loyal friend. He was incredibly proud both of his grandsons are fellow EWU alumni and traveled extensively with them. Keith found great joy in running into former students and colleagues throughout his travels. Keith’s favorite weekend of the year was Settler’s Days in Deer Park where he would find hundreds of former students, fellow firefighters, EMT’s, teachers and friends to catch up with.

Keith’s grandsons are proud to honor his legacy and wishes by hosting an Open House-style memorial in the community room at Spokane Fire District 4 in Deer Park on July 28 from 1-4 pm. If you knew Keith, you know of his love for sharing stories. Please join us in celebrating a life dedicated to service, sharing stories and enjoying some ice cream on Settler’s Weekend in Deer Park.
