Rotary Student of the Month February 2020

Wyatt Edwards, Mary Walker High School Student of the Month, has been in his school district since he started kindergarten. He wears with pride the letterman’s jacket he’s earned playing most of the sports offered at Mary Walker. He is Class President and in Honor Society. At graduation, the senior class is planning a trip to Disneyland.

Riverside High School’s Maxine White was introduced as a person who lights up the room when she enters. She is part of the Leadership with Rewards program at her school. Maxine is interested in becoming a teacher, possibly a kindergarten teacher like her mom. She plans to go to Washington State University for a degree in education and will also continue her Spanish language studies.

Shayla Donaldson of Deer Park High School is a 4.0 Grade Point Average student and Associated Student Body Treasurer. Her parents and grandfather attended her Students of the Month presentation to cheer her on. She is earning college credits as part of her high school program that will apply toward her future college degree. She is also an entrepreneur and built a String Art business. She plans on going into nursing or another health-related field, and is considering attending Whitworth University.

Deer Park Rotary raises money through an annual Petunia Sale in the spring, an annual Golf Tournament in September, and other activities supported by their local community. Much of their fundraising goes toward support of education in the Deer Park area, including scholarships for Deer Park, Riverside, and Mary Walker High Schools, and the Students of the Month Program.
