Filling the Trophy Case

As the Deer Park Float Association and Miss Deer Park Royalty continue their summer of travel and parades, they continue to bring home more trophies.

Penticton

On August 9th, the Deer Park Float Association, committee members, Miss Deer Park Royalty, past royalty, family, and friends made the long drive up to Penticton, BC for the Peach Festival. The weekend is full of structured and unstructured activities for all — including attending pageant night on Friday for the Penticton royalty, a royal dance, the parade, time at the lake, and the opportunity to float the river —  making for a whirlwind weekend indeed.

The parade began early Saturday morning with royalty dancing in the street before climbing on the floats to maneuver through town and entertain the crowds. With the parade length of about an hour and a half, it can make for a long day.

Our community was well-represented, and the crew made the commute back home on Sunday with a 1st place trophy in hand.

Prosser

Labor Day weekend brought a trip to Prosser, which is still a relatively new stop for the group. And after a fun-filled weekend, the Deer Park float and royalty returned with the Grand Sweepstakes trophy to add to the ever-growing group of hardware.

As summer wraps up, the next adventure includes a weekend trip to Leavenworth the last weekend in September, which includes shopping, a fun parade, and beautiful scenery.
